Manufacturing Machine Operator

Position summary: 

Job responsibilities include safely setting up and maintaining continuous operation of machine to produce quality products in necessary quantities to meet production requirements supporting the Company’s strategic plan and goals for growth and continuous improvement.

Job responsibilites: 
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) applicable to machine being operated
  • Perform machine setup
  • Maintain continuous machine operation at established machine run speeds
  • Monitor various machine settings applicable to machine being operated
  • Perform and record Quality testing
  • Safely operate fork truck to move raw materials and in-process stock; required to obtain fork truck license
  • Report daily production / scrap
  • Abide to Copperweld’s safety, quality and environmental standards


Position requirements: 
  • Adherence to the Copperweld Core Values
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge, skills and proficiency to perform multiple machine operations
  • Flexibility to work on any shift and to include continuous operations
  • Team player and self-starter
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to achieve proficiency working with Plexus: manufacturing, quality, etc.


Safety Requirements:

  • Must wear safety shoes with steel toe and metatarsal guard
  • Must wear safety glasses with side shields
  • Must wear safety ear protection
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • May require medium to heavy strength lifting, pushing and pulling weight requirements
  • May require bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, etc.
  • Must understand and comply with Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste management guidelines
