Metallurgical Engineer

Position summary: 

Job responsibilities will include developing, implementing and directing metallurgical related programs, including raw materials, operations, processing procedures, customer technical service, product development, metallurgical testing and customer product requirements.


Job responsibilites: 
  • Develop, implement, direct and maintain metallurgical quality assurance programs
  • Provide metallurgical engineering testing, failure analyses and consultation in support of business objectives
  • Provide assistance in the design, development and production of new bimetallic products and applications in support of current business and new market development and growth
  • Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, Quality Assurance, customers and suppliers by performing metallurgical testing, analysis and communicating metallurgical requirements
  • Maintain and develop up to date knowledge of the capability and performance of materials and processes
  • Interface with customers and their technical staff
  • Prepare technical documentation for communication to internal and external customers to communicate actions to be taken and technical requirements with a high level of accuracy.
  • Domestic and International travel may be required


Position requirements: 
  • Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Engineering/Materials Science with emphasis in Primary Metals
  • Strong background and experience in ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Strong background and experience working in metals industry, processing and converting them into useful products and applications
  • Experience in heat treating  and bonding of primary metals preferred
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ professional work experience in wire or comparable metals experience
  • Thorough knowledge of inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and management
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and working relationship to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Must have strong project management skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma principles and concepts; Black Belt certification preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001;2015 and/or IATF 16949 preferred
  • Motivated individual who needs little or no guidance
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
