Copperweld® Building Wire is made with CCA, a standardized copper bimetallic conductor where oxygen-free copper occupies its periphery and surface.
As a result of its copper cladding, Copperweld building wire connects like copper. Twenty-seven percent of the wire's mass is copper. The core of CCA is composed of 8000 Series building-wire-grade aluminum. Through the process of metallurgical bonding, Copperweld conductors are considered by the NEC to be galvanically similar to copper and dissimilar to aluminum.
