Copper-Clad Aluminum conductors have been referenced by the NEC for decades.  This milestone was achieved due to extensive fact-finding studies by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) which proved CCA’s safety for use as a conductor material with standard small-circuit wiring devices rated for copper conductors.  UL's fact-finding studies established that CCA performs equivalently to copper for electrical connections with such devices as 15- and 20-Ampere rated residential receptacles and snap switches.
